Your solar installation

Following a structured process

We'd like to explain our installation process to you, so you know what to expect from start to finish.

1. Consultation

The first step is to schedule a consultation. During the consultation, we will assess your energy needs and provide you with an estimated cost of the system. We keep the scheduling as convenient as possible for all of our valued customers.

2. Design

Once you have agreed to move forward with your personalized project, US Solar Connect will design a solar panel system that perfectly fits your property and meets your energy needs.

3. Permitting

Before installation can begin, we will need to obtain the necessary documentation and permits. This process should prove successful in less than 30 days.

4. Installation

Your personalized solar panel system will be installed on your property. This typically involves mounting the panels on your roof or on a ground mounted rack, wiring the system to your electrical panel and installing an inverter to convert the energy generated by the panels into usable electricity.

5. Inspection

Once the installation is complete, the system will be inspected by a trusted source to ensure that it meets local building and electrical codes.

6. Connection

Once the system has passed inspection, it will be connected to the electrical grid. Your utility company will install a special meter that tracks the amount of energy generated by your new solar panels!

Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) are targets set by states for the amount of energy that must be generated from renewable sources, including solar. These standards can impact the growth and development of the solar industry in a state and affect the customer’s ability to participate in programs and incentives.

An RPS is usually set statewide and applies to investor-owned utilities. Sometimes, however, cooperative and municipal utilities establish an RPS that does not apply to the rest of the state, so it is best to check with your local and state governments for accurate information.

Financing has never been so painless.

Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs) are credits that are earned for each unit of renewable energy generated. SRECs are specific to solar energy and can be sold or traded to utilities to help them meet their RPS requirements. Therefore, SRECs offer a financial reward for utility companies and homeowners that adopt solar energy.

The worth and cost of SRECs can differ from state to state, with the highest price typically set by what is referred to as an Alternative Compliance Payment (ACP). If a utility fails to acquire enough SRECs that would meet the RPS, they will be subjected to financial penalties determined by the regulator at ACP level. Owing to this, utilities would never pay higher than ACP for an SREC – thus effectively capping off its market value.

Benefits of Net Metering

Net Metering policies determine how much you'll be paid for the extra energy your solar panel system generates and sends bank to the grid. Floridas net metering policy under most net metering policies, customers have the right to own the Renewable Energy Certificates (RECS) generated in relation to their electrical output. requires utilities to credit customers the full retail rate for each kilowatt-hour of excess solar energy they generate, which can significantly reduce your monthly energy bill.

Staying in the loop, after we connect

Your solar system installation comes with micro inverters that include a remote chip, which sends status updates and performance metrics directly to your personal device. The inverter system can also detected the system issues. Our technicians will be notified immediately if any issues are detected within the system and will act promptly to resolve them.

As a homeowner, you will also have access to a mobile app that allows you to monitor production, consumption, and other related metrics to ensure everything is running smoothly.

Clean Energy Funds

Clean Energy Funds are programs that use funds collected from utility customers to finance renewable energy projects, including solar. These funds can provide additional ncentives and support for customers who want to go solar.

Florida's low-Interest Loans

Florida offers low-interest loans to residents who want to install a solar panel system. These loans can help reduce the upfront costs and incentivize low-income borrowers to switch to solar.

Interconnection Standards

To learn more about the interconnect standards and how to comply with them, you can visit the Florida Public Commission Service (FPSC) website.

Florida's On-Bill Financing and Repayment option

On-bill financing programs allow customers to pay for their solar panel system over time through their utility bill. This financing option can make going solar more affordable and accessible for customers. The financing can be offered by the energy supplier or a third party supplier and the payments are conveniently collected each month through the customers utility bill. The loan can come from various sources such as a state office, financial institution, or the power provider.

On-bill financing has two significant advantages over conventional loan. Firstly, the borrowing is used for investments that result in lower electricity expenses, meaning both the cost reductions and the loan payments will appear on one bill. Ideally, the energy savings should be higher than the loan payments, demonstrating the benefits of investment. Secondly, because these loans are directly linked to utility service, customers who fail to make payment can have their utilities suspend as an incentive to avoid defaulting on their debts.

On-Bill financing is an option worth considering for multiple reasons. If you are considering this financing option, it should Zoning and Permit Requirements be discussed with one of our seasoned professionals at US Solar Connect.
